Flipping !&@%___ Tires!

Last weekend I took my work out to a whole new level.  I was climbing fences!! Yes, I was climbing fences! I remember when I was a kid, I could climb a fence in record time and trees were no match for me either! When my trainer asked me... When was the last time you climbed a fence? I looked at him like he was crazy! It was a back to basics kind of work out... old school all the way. Climbing fences and flipping and rolling tires up and down the football field! And I was all for it!

Tire training is a total body strength and conditioning workout, if you have ever heard of the "strongman competitions" that's where most people know it from. But it’s actually just old school fitness training, no gym... use what you got... you have a tire... why not give it a few flips and then maybe roll it down a football field!

These exercises are not for the faint of heart and if preformed incorrectly you can really get hurt, so please do not attempt these exercises without proper supervision.

Here are a few pics...

What's the definition of insanity? .....

Rolling that tire! I quickly discovered it was much more difficult than it looked!

How Bad Do You Want It?!

Often times when that alarm clock wakes me at 4:30am I pause for just a moment, OK, I admit it I often hit the snooze button! It is tempting to stay in the bed just a little longer, especially when my body temperature is perfect and the pillows are just right, or it’s raining or cold or too hot or... well, you get the hint!

Whenever these moments strike....that's when I stop and ask myself one very important question...

How Bad Do You Want It?

It’s the shortest pep talk in the world!

No matter what your goal, dream or passion is, if you find that you are in a state of hesitation; if you wake up in the morning and find yourself thinking today is the day you want to give up, ask yourself...

How Bad Do You Want It?

On this particular morning, it took me 9 minutes to answer this question and make the decision to get out of bed!

My personal pep talk went something like this:

How bad do you want it Christine?
Pretty darn bad!
Do you want it more than sleep?
Dam straight!
What do you want?
I want to live fully!
I want to be healthy!
I want to be happy!
I want to be whole!
How bad do you want it?
I want it so much I am willing to sacrifice sleep, wake up before dawn, and go out in the !@&#$%^ rain to make it happen!

Because.... I love myself

Why do I work out almost every single day, even when I may not feel like it?  Because I love myself enough to stick with it!

Love yourself enough to take care of you!

The Reluctant Jogger...

I took a brisk 30 minute jog today! I don't like the cold very much but I didn't have time to get to the gym so, I got out there and went for it! I took a moment to pause so I could snap a few pictures of the frosty grass and frozen lake, then I realized the beauty of the cold crisp morning. I'm glad I didn't miss this. #ChristineInProgress

Update on my Battle Rope Session: Ibuprofen!

Battle....

This morning I went into battle...

Looking to add something new to my workout I went to visit a local gym that offers the rope work out also known as battle ropes and rope training. This is much more difficult than the professionals make it look! It was hard but it was a lot of fun! I will absolutely do this again! C. I. P. (Christine in Progress)

Trying Something New..

Go Outside and Play!

I took our daughters to the park by the lake this weekend. We walked the nature trail, spent some time chasing butterflies, had a wonderful picnic, fed the geese and a bunch of rowdy ducks! :) When we went to the playground; I was the only parent that was actually involved in play with my children, running, riding the see-saw and even swinging on the swings! (Swings are the best!) My inner child just refuses to stay “in” =) Go outside and play today! (Children are optional) ;-)

Share the Journey with me:

As I mentioned in the beginning, this space will serve as my public diary of sorts, I hope you will share my journey with me in love and support. As I have been going through this, friends, family and acquaintances began to pay attention and witness my physical, spiritual/emotional transformation, they wanted to know more. As I began to share a little more, I was surprised to discover, my journey was actually inspiring others! I could not believe that people I only know casually or never even met have started on their own health/wellness journey as a result of watching my personal transformation! Friends and Family have actually started Meatless Mondays to play around with the idea of transiting to a plant based diet!  Everyone I have had contact with has wanted to hear more, see more and learn more about my journey. So here I am at last, after a lot of thought and consideration I decided I want to share more and, for some crazy reason I want to do it all publicly. I have learned through my private struggles, there may be inspiration for someone else. My journey might actually be a blessing to someone and I don’t want to deny any person that opportunity!  I want this to be a place of positive energy and support, a place where we can share the best and sometimes the worst of ourselves.   I am going to be pretty vulnerable here and I hope you will receive that with love and support as I promise to do the same for you. I am not a Dr. or an expert, I am not selling anything and I have not found the magic potion to instant health and vitality!  Although it feels like it! I am just a woman, mom, and wife... in progress, every day, living life one day at a time, working hard to reclaim my own health and wellness, realizing the blessings in every day,  learning from and sharing my personal adventures and sharing some (hopefully) very valuable lessons along the way. Here’s to progress!

Progress ...

100lbs on the leg press! What's the big deal? When I started I could barely press 55lbs, now I can press 100 lbs effortlessly! I feel like I'm getting stronger every day! Progress!!

Focus, Determination, Commitment...

Either I am committed or I should be committed! I hit the gym and got in 1hr and 30 minutes of kick a** cardio and another 30 minutes of hard core weight training. I really wanted to stay home and sleep but I got my gym gear on and went for it. And I was all in, focused and sweating buckets! And, I did feel better when it was over! I think I felt even better because I went even though I didn't really feel up to it. I'm so proud of myself! There was a time I would have talked myself out of going! I do believe those days are far behind me! Thank God for giving me new Focus, Determination, Commitment and most importantly Self Love! I’ll be back in there again today!

Superwoman!

Today was cardio only day, I killed it really good! I am so proud of myself! When I started this process back in March I could barely get one mile on the bike, today I went 5 miles and maintained a 10.5 speed the entire 30 minutes! (thanks to a little Christina Agulera, Beyonce and Janet Jackson on my iPod!) Then I did my favorite... the elliptical (yep, I love that machine) and killed that for another 30 minutes! Oh, and I took care of the abs too. I feel like Superwoman for real! Tomorrow is cardio and weight training. I'm looking forward to it! I never thought I would actually say it but if I can't get my work out in, I miss it and that is amazing coming from me! I am truly progressing!
